The process of carpet recycling involves several steps:

Collection – we collect the carpet waste at a location and time agreed with you.
Sorting – carpets are sorted based on factors like fibre type, condition, and composition. This step helps identify which carpets can be recycled and which require alternative disposal methods.
Separation – during this stage, the carpets are separated from other components, such as backings and adhesives, using mechanical or manual means.
Processing – the separated carpets are then shredded into smaller pieces, creating a material known as carpet fibre fluff.
Reproduction – depending on the fibre type and condition, the carpet fibre fluff can be processed into various products, such as new carpets, insulation, or automotive parts.

Generally speaking, most domestic and commercial carpets (e.g. made of wool, nylon, polypropylene) are classed as non-hazardous bulky waste.

However, if the carpet has been exposed to hazardous substances, such as asbestos (e.g. in old buildings where fibres might be present in underlay or adhesive),  industrial chemicals, or biological contamination (e.g. medical settings, bodily fluids).

In such cases, it may be classified as hazardous waste and must be disposed of accordingly. We will help you manage waste safely.

We offer flexible scheduling, including same-day or next-day carpet disposal services where availability allows. Early booking is recommended to secure preferred time slots.
