In May Yes Waste were appointed as the clearance contractor for Eureka! in Halifax. Due to Covid the site had been shut down. Management decided to have a clear out of old, unwanted items before reopening after the third lockdown.

Also because of Covid a decision had also been made to close the on site nursery down that is joined on to the railway station. This had to be cleared of toys and furniture. As well as the nursery itself we also cleared the offices that supported it.

What removed included:

The types of equipment cleared included:

  • Desks
  • Swivel and static hairs
  • Filing cabinets
  • Pedestals
  • Book cases
  • Cupboards
  • Wardrobes
  • General office stationary / equipment
  • Books
  • Toys
  • Play equipment
  • Children’s furniture

Please Note:
Anything that was suitable for reuse was donated some of the children’s furniture and toys to local charities. Items that could not be reused was disposed of at fully licensed facilities.

Hazardous Waste:

As part of the clearance in Halifax we were also asked to remove some hazardous waste from a disused railway shed that Eureka used for storage. This included:

  • Lead acid batteries
  • Fluorescent tubes
  • An ice cream freezer
  • Paint – both water based and oil based
  • Oil
  • Thinners

Once removed, we issued a Hazardous Waste Consignment Note for removal of all of the hazardous materials.

Finally, Eureka! are a long standing customer of ours and we hope that they have a good summer after enduring the challenges of the last 12-18 months.
