Remove, reuse or recycle: Electrical waste removal

These days we recycle so much of our household rubbish already. We have systems in place for materials such as cardboard, metal, plastic and wood that have become part of our daily lives.

We can recycle more of the electrical items we have in our household rubbish now too. If you can’t find such a service with your local authority, Yes Waste are more than happy to help with you electrical waste removal and are specially trained to do so.

What is electrical waste?

Technology advances mean our electrical devices can be updated more frequently than, for example, 10 years ago as there are new features available that we don’t want to miss out on. We updated our video players for DVD players and DVD players are now being replaced for blu-ray players. Any old computers or laptops, TV’s, monitors, mobile phones, CD players, stereos, printers, ovens, fridges and washing machines all class as electrical waste and Yes Waste electrical waste removal can deal with all of these items from your household rubbish.

Don’t let these things be sent to landfill as items such as old laptops and computers may have sensitive information on them that you wouldn’t want falling into the wrong hands.

Why does it need to dealt with properly?

If our electrical waste all just ended up in landfill sites and was dealt with the way other waste was, it could produce dangerous toxins. If we properly recycle our electrical waste we can recover materials that can be used to make new products. This means that we can save energy, help to reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions and save resources but it’s also the law. The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directive was put into place to make sure electrical waste is dealt with properly, and ignoring it means you could face a fine up to £5000. Yes Waste is WEEE complaint and we can help with your WEEE waste removal, providing you with a waste transfer note for proof and peace of mind that everything has been properly dealt with.

What does Yes Waste do with your electrical waste?

Yes Waste electrical waste removal and WEEE waste removal service is available for both business and household rubbish. Some electrical waste is hazardous and needs special treatment. Waste such as fridges, CRT televisions or fluorescent tubes needs to be recycled at Authorised Treatment Facilities. Here it can be treated and processed and all the raw materials can be recycled. For other items such as computers, mobile phones, kettles, dishwashers and almost anything that needs to plugged in we can take this away. It doesn’t need to separated from any other waste removal service we may be completing for you and if anything can be reused we can take it to reuse organisations that we work closely with. Everything else, we break down and send various components to different industries to be reprocessed.
